Color masterbatches developed on recycled and post-consumer plastic?

Mesgo Iride Colors responds to market demand by creating the first line of CSI Recycled Plastic certified color masterbatches.

Mesgo Iride Colors, increasingly attentive to environmental sustainability, has invested time and resources in recent years to meet the demand of an increasingly demanding market, also obtaining the ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification and optimizing its business organization system.

Since February 2024, it has also received the Gold medal from Ecovadis, a collaborative platform that allows companies to monitor the sustainability performance of their suppliers in 150 sectors and 110 countries, with the aim of improving the company’s environmental and social practices by leveraging the influence of global supply chains.

The answer from a technical point of view came with the birth of the color range, Rebirth Colors, a line entirely dedicated to the coloring of second-life plastic and totally developed using recycled and post-consumer polymers.

The line is the first to achieve an important record in the sector, obtaining the CSI Recycled Plastic certification, a recognition that attests to innovation and compliance with the highest quality standards, according to the specific DOC 002/13 standards.

Thanks to the research and development center and an in-depth study of regenerated materials, Mesgo Iride Colors offers colors with excellent workability, good dispersion and excellent performance, maintaining high quality standards of the finished product.

The masterbatches, available with post-consumer polyethylene and polypropylene support, the so-called rPE and rPP, allow Mesgo Iride Colors customers to present colored products on the market in a totally GREEN version, without having to give up bright colors, and, consequently, packaging that allows them to differentiate themselves in the eyes of increasingly demanding consumers.

Rebirth Colours includes:
• Sunshine Colours, a line entirely developed with special effect pigments, created to meet the need for sustainable solutions with bright colors in the field of cosmetic packaging, and now also applicable in other sectors.
A leader in recycled-based colours, it was the first product range to have obtained the CSI Recycled Plastic label.
• Film Colour, the line offers a range of products, developed on rPE support, which can be used in the production of shopping bags and industrial packaging.
Thanks to the careful selection of pigments and the high dispersion, they guarantee bright colors of excellent quality to the final product, maintaining high standards of environmental sustainability.
• R-Tango Black, the line dedicated to the different market segments, always places as a priority the excellent quality of the finished product, determined by the correct selection of Carbon Black and a consolidated ad hoc production process.

Many sectors are increasingly attentive to the spread of products that make use of renewable raw materials, such as waste, which from a problem becomes a resource. Products made with recycled materials are increasingly incentivized in line with the requirements of the new package of European directives on the Circular Economy.
